It will provide a comprehensive overview on activities addressing animal welfare and on the variety of stakeholders providing them. It will offer an opportunity for partnerships especially among public and private sector, academia and civil society.
The meeting will address: training and education, development and implementation of standards, development and implementation of good practices, certification schemes, research, capacity development, and awareness raising.
It will start in the early afternoon on 1 March and will end in the early afternoon on 2 March. It will consist of interactive events and will include an opening address by the EESC President and by FAO Animal Production and Health Division Director; presentations by intergovernmental organizations such as the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) and the European Commission; governmental institutions, private sector representatives like the USA National Milk Producers Federation (NMPF), non-governmental organizations like Animals' Angels, the RSPCA and The Brooke; scientific research and education and training institutions such as the Istituto G.Caporale, Teramo; and many others. A tentative programme will follow shortly.
