BO-12.02-002-009 Alternatieve huisvesting vleesvarkens
SAMENVATTING
Doel: De doelstelling van dit project is om via onderzoek op prakijkbedrijven inzicht te krijgen hoe een huisvestingssysteem voorvleesvarkens met grote groepen en selectie en weegstation qua stal lay-out en management ingericht moet worden om de doelstellingen te halen t.a.v. een verbeterd dierwelzijn, arbo-omstandigheden en economische rentabiliteit.
Werkwijze: Op vleesvarkensbedrijven wordt het systeem in gebruik genomen en gedurende vier jaar door ASG gemonitored op dierwelzijn, technische kengetallen, arbo-omstandigheden en rendement. Hierbij starten de ondernemers met 20 procent dichte ligvloer. Het streven is om dit aandeel uit te breiden tot 40 procent dichte ligvloer.
Resultaten: Het eindresultaat van dit project is een rapport met de verschillende succesvolle ontwerpen van alternatieve huisvestingssystemen voor grote groepen vleesvarkens waarin de resultaten van dit project ten aanzien van dierwelzijn, arbo-omstandigheden en economische rentabiliteit en andere relevante informatie over kritische succesfactoren vermeld staan.
SUMMARY
Project title: Housing large groups of finishing pigs.
Description problem/question: The main research question is how facilities for housing large groups of finishing pigs with a selection- and weighing station should be designed for Dutch standards and taking future wishes of pig production into account.
Research objectives: Goal of project is to gain insight in how group housing of large groups of finishing pigs, with a selection- and weighing station, should be equiped and managed in order to improve animal welfare, working conditions and profit. This research will be conducted on commercial farms.
Results and products: This project will result in a report with succesfull designs of housing systems for large groups of finishing pigs. Results will include animal welfare, working conditions and profit and other relevant information on critical success factors.
